Advantages
Of DVC
(Disney Vacation Club)
When
you stay at the Disney World Resort at a Disney Vacation Club
(DVC) resort. There are great perks; most importantly, the
accommodations are SO much nicer that the average Disney hotel
room. A kitchen or kitchenette in your room is nice even when
you have no intentions of cooking; our microwave and fridge
usually get used for having plenty of cold drinks readily
available, and for reheating all those leftovers from the
dinners we couldn't finish.
Typical
Disney service is found for anything you may need, from complimentary
taxi to golf courses, to free DVD rentals at Community Hall.
Each DVC Resort has a Community Hall where you can find a
miriad of activities. Things like ceramics, bead art, hoola
hoop lessons, bingo, and free Disney movie 'theater' setup
on the lawn or beach.
Disney
Vacation Club Resorts at Disneyworld in Orlando are:
- Disney's Old Key West Resort
- Disney's
Beach Club Villas
- Disney's
BoardWalk Villas
- Disney's
Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
- Disney's
Animal Kingdom Villas
- Bay
Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort
- The
Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge
Each
has a distinct atmosphere, as well as, restaurants, gift shops,
and small store for those things you may need during your
stay.
Welcome
Home... Make Your Bed!
One
big difference I found when moving up to DVC from moderate
resorts, was the daily room cleaning and bed making. DVC members
take care of their own property and that includes making your
bed. . . if you want your bed made.
After
a few stays, I realized, this is one of the things that makes
it feel like home. Upon arriving at any DVC resort, the staff
greets us with a hearty, "Welcome Home", and it feels like
home. The room has most of what you need to care for yourself
and your home away from home. There is a vacuum in the closet
and dish washing liquid under the sink. Frankly, I have never
done much more than thought. I mean, I'm not doing windows
or anything, just cleaning up my own messes. With this arrangement,
of course, come certain freedoms, like I can leave my personal
items scattered about without having to worry about ANYONE
coming into my room while I am enjoying the other opportunities
throughout Disneyworld.
DVC
members get a discount on annual passes, golf excursions,
and Disney tours. There are other discounts, but these are
the big hitters for us.
I
highly recommend DVC ownership. Visit one of the many booths
scattered throughout Disney properties, and get the details.
Cindy Welch is a huge fan of Disney World and all
it has to offer. She practically raised her kids
there, and continues to visit at least once a
year. She is now a member of the Disney Vacation
Club.
