Located in Disney's
Animal Kingdom Theme Park, the Tusker House restaurant is
a nice diversion from the activities of the theme park. Especially
on a hot day.
The first time
I tried it out, was in June of 2008. It was maybe 10 or so
in the morning, and we had been at the Animal Kingdom Theme
Park for a couple hours and were pretty hungry.
Being at Disney
World several years in a row, Cindy
was aware that the Tusker House was a reservation type restaurant,
but I wanted to give it a try. The hostess was very cordial
and checked for an empty place, and we were allowed in.
While the
Tusker House has breakfast, lunch and dinner, the
breakfast is character dining, and is actually listed
as "Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker House Restaurant
on the Disney
Dining Plan. Donald and friends move about while
you eat, and you can take pictures with them if you
like.

It was the first
time any of us, including Cindy,
had been there, so it was a new experience for all of us.
The breakfast is
a buffet style and pretty good food. Normal breakfast type
foods (eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, etc.), plus some of
their own specialties.
Before entering,
a photographer takes your picture several times, and you're
offered the chance to buy a couple. If I'm not mistaken, I
bought a couple for my daughter and granddaughter to have
for memories.

The
staff was fantastic, the food was really good and the
characters were awesome, so I gave the Tusker House a
rating of five stars. Cindy
also loved the experience and gave it a five star rating.
My daughter, Luvenia and granddaughter, Fernan were also
pleased... Go figure! :-) |
Outside, authentic
drummers from Africa were performing and allowing the crowd
to participate. A lot of fun for everyone, and a really nice
ending to a wonderful breakfast.
The Tusker House,
in Disney World's Animal Kingdom Theme Park is on our list
as a "Do Again", and is highly recommended, especially
if you have children and want to do a nice breakfast with
characters.
Reservations are
recommended. We were lucky that time, but I wouldn't try it
again without making reservations.
