Remember the shows
"Happy Days", "Leave It To Beaver", "Ozzie
and Harriet", "My Three Sons", etc.?
50's
Prime Time Cafe takes you back to that era and memories.
The restaurant
is located in Disney World's Hollywood Studios Theme Park,
and from the moment you walk in, you're taken back to the
'good old days'. Equipped with old furniture in the lobby,
old television sets with the 1950 era shows playing on them,
so you can watch the good ol' shows in black & white while
you wait to be taken to your table.
Once you get to
the dining area, you'll find it the 50's type kitchen furniture.
The servers make
you 'mind your manners' and chastise you if they catch you
doing things like putting your elbows on the table... It's
great! I mean absolutely great!
They serve the
typical meals you would normally have back in that day, including
meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy and greenbeans, which is
what I had, and although it wasn't as good as mom's (come
on, no ones is - right?!), it was still pretty darn good!
My granddaughter,
Fernan, was too young to appreciate the whole idea, but said
she still had a really nice time there. (They made her help
set our table.)
Actually, none
of us were old enough to really remember those times, including
Cindy and
me. I was born in 1958, so I was actually starting a different
generation, but man how I loved those shows.
That lovely experience
was shared by my daughter and granddaughter, Luvenia and Fernan
respectively, Cindy
and myself.
Cindy
and I both give 50's Prime Time Cafe a 4-star rating, and
definitely want to visit again, especially when taking others
with us.
